Kurtis Adamus
Kurtis, 23, is a singer/songwriter based in Ottawa, Ontario. His musical career started off at a young age studying royal conservatory repertoire on piano. After many years of hard work in the classical realm, he started to become increasingly interested in contemporary music. Due to his strong musical memory and ear for melody, alongside his piano teacher, he started to learn more modern music.
His love for contemporary music, which was heavily influenced by artists such as Elton John, Billy Joel and Coldplay pushed Kurtis to study vocals and more importantly to write music. Kurtis’ songwriting abilities continue to grow stronger after having studied with award winning songwriter and singer Giselle Minns, who remains his mentor today.
After high school Kurtis was accepted into Carleton University’s Bachelor of Music program in 2016. This program centres around songwriting, piano, vocal technique and performance. He is an active member of the Ottawa music scene, filling up musical venues around the city. He recently joined a lineup of musicians at the 2018 City Folk Marvest Festival and was a finalist in the 2018 MusikOttawa singer/songwriter competition. He has also appeared on three seasons of Music Volume on YourTV in Smith’s Falls.
Live, you can watch Kurtis performing with a four-piece band, playing original music along with several tasteful covers. Other than performing, he is also a songwriter and session piano player who has played for several musicians around Ottawa including singer/songwriter Emma Lamontagne.
Kurtis’ latest release “Testing Your Luck” is now available on all streaming platforms. He is currently working on another release set to launch on September 3rd, 2021.
